Partnering for Progress: Our Impactful Partnerships in 2023

At the meeting point of translation and communication, partnerships serve as the linchpin for innovation, driving meaningful change, and cultivating a global community dedicated to breaking language barriers in pursuit of good.

Looking back on the year that was 2023, we are proud to have forged alliances within the translation industry, propelling innovation and education. We have also partnered with organizations from other sectors, contributing to a tapestry of global cooperation in pursuit of positive transformation in the way we connect, the way we understand, and the way we all thrive in the world.

Join us as we unravel the significance of some of our key partnerships and review their profound impact for good in the world.

Catalyzing Change with War Child Canada

According to The UN Refugee Agency, there are more than 108.4 million people worldwide who have been forcibly displaced as a result of persecution, conflict, violence, human rights violation or events seriously disturbing public order. Among these millions, it’s estimated that 41% are under the age of 18.

At a time when more than 1 in every 74 people on Earth has been forced to flee, every little effort made to provide long-term solutions, and make positive change, is both pressing and necessary. In light of this, Alexa Translations was proud to announce its partnership with War Child Canada

War Child Canada is an organization that aims to minimise the long-term losses children suffer in war and conflict-torn countries by offering safe and consistent access to education; helping families escape poverty; and providing legal support for survivors of sexual violence and abuse.

By partnering with Alexa Translations, War Child Canada has been able to leverage our Alexa Translations A.I. platform, along with our expert linguists, to enable the 99% of staff who work in war-affected countries to connect and communicate with communities in different places across the world. The War Child Canada teams in Yemen and the Democratic Republic of Congo have already received training on the platform, and Alexa Translations is committed to supporting War Child Canada in whatever way we can.

Breaking Language Barriers with The Outlaw Ocean Project

While the deep, blue sea may seem like the last place on earth that requires translation expertise, in the case of the groundbreaking investigative journalism of The Outlaw Ocean Project, founded by Pulitzer Prize winning journalist, Ian Urbina, it’s a necessity.

The nature of the reporting done by The Outlaw Ocean Project requires that it be distributed in truly unique ways. Most of their stories are reported, at least partially, at sea and need translation into a half dozen languages in order to be disseminated to newspapers, magazines, radio, and television venues all over the world. Covering stories about human rights, labor, and environmental concerns on the two thirds of the planet covered by water, means that the ability to translate their investigations quickly is an important force in the fight for justice.

By partnering with Alexa Translations this year, The Outlaw Ocean Project has been given full access to our Alexa Translations A.I. platform, along with our expert linguists, to translate their stories and disseminate them as broadly as possible.

Continued Commitment to Previous Partnerships

We are proud to continue to support the cause of promoting and encouraging a more collaborative society through our partnership with Women General Counsel Canada (WGCC). Through this partnership, we also hope to broaden the scope of our A.I-powered legal translation services to a broader community.

Similarly, through continued collaboration with Women in Governance, we aim to promote equality, mentorship, and inclusion. Founded in 2010, Women in Governance is a Canadian non-profit organization devoted to empowering women through professional development and bridging the gender divide in the workplace.

We renew our commitment to empowering younger generations through our partnership with JA Americas, which seeks to provide today’s youth with the necessary tools to succeed. With an ambitious goal of reaching 15 million youths within the next ten years, a meaningful partnership like this enables the JA Americas team to drive the change that is so very needed.

Conclusion

All of the partnerships forged by Alexa Translations during the course of 2023 serve as evidence of the importance of collaboration, embodying the essence of our commitment to a world united through language.

From empowering those with a noble mission to provide education and promote equality, to enabling groundbreaking investigators, like The Outlaw Ocean Project team, to disseminate crucial stories that transcend the vastness of the sea, our partnership journey is defined by purposeful connection.

As we look back, we celebrate the strides made in breaking barriers and fostering global understanding. Together with our partners, we aim to stand at the forefront of positive change, embracing the potential for a future defined by innovation, education, and meaningful transformation, on a global scale.
