According to KPMG’s Global Tech Report 2023, Canadian businesses have reported that their digital transformation efforts over the last two years have paid off. However, across multiple industries, Canadian businesses are lagging behind their global counterparts. This potentially creates risks to their competitiveness, profitability, and productivity on a global scale.

One key method for catching up to competitors is the increased incorporation of A.I. and machine learning into your business practice.

With so much information - good and bad - about A.I., it can be daunting to integrate A.I. into your organization, but it doesn’t need to be. To help demystify the process, we look at simple steps you can take to integrate A.I. translation into your organization.

Step 1: Preparation is Key

As with any good business strategy, often the end result is directly linked to good preparation. We always recommended proper preparation as the first step in the integration of A.I. translation

Part of this preparation should include a kick-off meeting that allows your A.I. partner to better understand your technical and operational requirements, as well as the standards and necessities of your organization’s output, and the broader industry.

On your side, these discussions should ensure that every member of your team, from potential platform users to key decision-makers, can better understand the platform and its capabilities. This is critical to ensure everyone feels comfortable with the choice to use the platform, while paving the way for its optimal use and best results.

If this seems intimidating in any way, rest easy. Our team at Alexa Translations can help create a custom onboarding plan for you, outlining everything your team needs to know about the platform and running dedicated training sessions.

Step 2: Training Sessions

To ensure the proper adoption of A.I. translation, it is paramount that proper training sessions take place to empower your team with a full understanding of the platform and its various features (as well as how best to use them).

The number and size of these training sessions will differ from organization to organization, but it is key to remember that properly training the people who will use the platform will help to ensure its continued use after the initial period of ‘platform curiosity’ comes to an end.

A phased roll-out to training can also help to enable those who have a better understanding of the benefits of the platform to provide assistance and advocacy to their colleagues. However you approach this important step, remember that the more your team is trained in the tool and understands its benefits, the more broadly the potential for adoption across the entirety of your organization.

Our team will facilitate as many training sessions as you require, now and in the future. This means that you will have the peace of mind that experts are helping with future onboarding, thus ensuring your team remains properly trained. This access to our team also gives you the opportunity to evolve how your organization uses the platform over time.

Step 3: Phases of Adoption - From Pilot to Increased Use

As with any new technology or operations, there tends to be a period of progression in the adoption process.

During the initial phase, it is all about encouraging your team to make use of the platform. While they do so, encourage them to take note of how they leverage the software, as well as their recommendations for improving its use within your specific organization.

As the user-base for the A.I. translation platform grows, encourage greater adoption by making it readily available and easily accessible. It is important to allow your team to practice using the platform without the pressure of fast-approaching time demands, so that they can gain a hands-on understanding of its benefits and operations.

Amongst the users in your organization, make sure to establish regular feedback sessions so that those who have more readily adopted the technology are able to serve as social proof, while advocating for its use. Additionally, those who are having troubles should be able to ask questions, the answers for which should be readily shared within the session to the benefit of everyone in attendance.

It is worth noting that partnering with a full-service A.I. translation partner will ensure that they are able to help facilitate these feedback and workshop sessions. At Alexa Translations, for instance, we regularly conduct workshop sessions in groups. These sessions are dedicated to enabling users to see the platform in action, evaluating its functionality, and coming to a better understanding of its new and innovative features, as well as those that have been there from the beginning.

This not only helps us train your team, but also better understand your business requirements so we can improve the platform and provide better on-going support.

Step 4: On-Going Support

For best results, it is imperative that you partner with an A.I. translation partner that offers on-going support.

As regular updates are released or challenges in use arise, it is important to be able to turn to and rely on a good client support team that is offered by your technology partners. It is also important that your technology partner has an in-depth and ever-evolving understanding of your industry, and any challenges or opportunities that may arise.

On-going support should be tailored to meet your needs, including everything from ample training, dedicated account managers, and a tech team ready and able to support your organization. At Alexa Translations, we go one step further and offer accessibility to our team of expert professional translators, to whom you can elevate a translation query for review and refinement.

Whatever support your organization may need, it is important that the resources available are efficient and effective in resolving your query, while providing the answers to any questions that arise.

BILL 96 WEBINAR (PART 1) - IN CASE YOU MISSED ITBILL 96 WEBINAR (PART 1) - IN CASE YOU MISSED IT

If you're operating in Quebec, you’ll by now be familiar with Bill 96, the Quebec government’s proposed law that is expected to take effect this summer. The bill will update the Charter of French Language, otherwise known as Bill 101, ensuring that nearly all business contracts, human resources activities, public services, marketing, and just about anything else will be available in French.

The highly contentious bill has generated applause by some, and protests by others. Whatever your opinion of the new law, you must be prepared to take action before Bill 96 takes effect.

To help explain the impact of Bill 96, we recently assembled a panel of experts including Keyvan Nassiry (Nassiry Law), André de Maurivez (CIBC), Tania Da Silva (DLA Piper), and Gary Kalaci (Alexa Translations). Our panel discussed the general impact of the bill, provided recommendations for all businesses operating in Quebec, and explored the nuances of human resources and contractual law under Bill 96.
