Purpose Investments is a leading Canadian investment management company dedicated to offering a diverse range of innovative solutions that meet the evolving needs of investors. Their mission is to provide transparency, accessibility, and value, delivering better outcomes for clients through actively managed and thoughtfully designed investment products.

Purpose Investments faced operational difficulties stemming from a high demand for translation across offering documents, regulatory filings, and marketing communications. Their specific challenges included:

  1. External Vendor Management: The firm used multiple translation companies, which resulted in inconsistencies across their documents.
  2. Poor Quality Outcome: Issues with accuracy and formatting in translated documents diluted the brand, negatively affecting the quality of their communications.
  3. High Costs: Relying on multiple translation vendors created high costs that added unnecessary pressure to the business.
  4. High Volume: The scope of work was extensive, requiring the translation of all offering documents, regulatory filings, and marketing communications.

As their product offerings expanded, so did the volume and complexity of their translation needs—particularly across English and French content required for Canadian regulatory compliance.

1. Managing Too Many Vendors, Not Enough Consistency

Purpose relied on multiple external translation providers to handle legal, financial, and marketing content. Each vendor worked differently, which led to inconsistencies in terminology, tone, and formatting across documents.

For an investment firm, these inconsistencies don’t just create inefficiencies—they dilute brand credibility and increase regulatory risk.

Accuracy and formatting issues in translated documents required repeated revisions. Over time, these challenges negatively affected the quality of their communications.

Working with multiple vendors also meant fragmented billing and limited insight into overall translation spend. Costs continued to rise, putting unnecessary pressure on internal teams and budgets without delivering corresponding value.

The scope of work was extensive, requiring the translation of all offering documents, regulatory filings, and marketing communications.

The sheer volume of work made it clear: their existing approach to translation was no longer sustainable.

Alexa Translations implemented a tailored, full-service solution to address these pain points:

  1. Single Specialised Vendor: We centralised all translations, covering legal, financial, and marketing content, establishing Alexa Translations as the sole vendor.
  2. Quality & Consistency: Our solutions leveraged industry-specific terminology, client-specific rules, and strict formatting standards to maintain consistency across all document types.
  3. Cost Visibility: We implemented a customised solution that provided clear visibility into costs, ensuring efficient budget management.
  4. Dedicated Project Management: A dedicated project team was put in place specifically to support Purpose Investments.

As their product offerings expanded, so did the volume and complexity of their translation needs—particularly across English and French content required for Canadian regulatory compliance.

The transition to Alexa Translations delivered significant measurable results for Purpose Investments:

  • Significant Cost Reduction: The firm achieved 45% in cost savings for translation services.
  • Brand and Regulatory Consistency: We improved consistency across all documents—including legal, financial, and marketing—ensuring all communications were both on-brand and regulatory compliant.
  • Increased Efficiency: The provision of a dedicated project manager provided single-customer views, resulting in increased overall efficiency

By partnering with Alexa Translations, Purpose Investments transformed translation from a fragmented cost centre into a strategic advantage. Through a single specialised vendor, consistent brand-aligned language, and clear cost visibility, Purpose gained the confidence to scale its product offerings while maintaining regulatory compliance and brand integrity across every document.

The result was not only a 45% reduction in translation costs, but also a more efficient, reliable, and future-ready translation process that supports Purpose Investments’ commitment to transparency, quality, and delivering better outcomes for investors.

BILL 96 WEBINAR (PART 1) - IN CASE YOU MISSED ITBILL 96 WEBINAR (PART 1) - IN CASE YOU MISSED IT

If you're operating in Quebec, you’ll by now be familiar with Bill 96, the Quebec government’s proposed law that is expected to take effect this summer. The bill will update the Charter of French Language, otherwise known as Bill 101, ensuring that nearly all business contracts, human resources activities, public services, marketing, and just about anything else will be available in French.

The highly contentious bill has generated applause by some, and protests by others. Whatever your opinion of the new law, you must be prepared to take action before Bill 96 takes effect.

To help explain the impact of Bill 96, we recently assembled a panel of experts including Keyvan Nassiry (Nassiry Law), André de Maurivez (CIBC), Tania Da Silva (DLA Piper), and Gary Kalaci (Alexa Translations). Our panel discussed the general impact of the bill, provided recommendations for all businesses operating in Quebec, and explored the nuances of human resources and contractual law under Bill 96.

Did you miss the webinar?

Not to worry - you can watch the recorded webinar below, and sign up here for updates about Bill 96 to ensure your business is prepared for the landbreaking new law.

This webinar was part one of our three-part series exploring Bill 96. The other two installments will take place in August and November - sign up here for updates on the upcoming webinars.
