It's incredible how fast time flies. It didn't seem that long ago when Alexa Translations joined the NEO Trusted Service Providers program, but a lot has happened since 2018 that was cause for celebration. To mark the milestone, the Neo Exchange and Alexa Translations held a bell-ringing celebration to open the market and honour their four years of working together.

The virtual "Market Open and Ringing of the Bell" event was a cheerful and symbolic act. In front of clients, supporters and team members of both firms, the bell was rung together at precisely 9:30 a.m. EST to open the market and reinforce their shared commitment to support each other and grow together in the future.

Trusted Service Provider Program Created a Solid Network of Professional Exchange

NEO Exchange launched in 2015, offering an innovative and investor-driven trading platform for all listed Canadian securities. With its Trusted Service Provider Program, NEO identified a win-win situation for all parties involved: recommending service providers to their capital-raising clients benefits the client, the service provider and, in turn, the NEO Exchange. Over the years, numerous best-in-class specialists from various business fields, including legal, accounting, audit, communications, transfer agencies, finance, governance, internal relations, public relations and marketing support, have joined the program. Neo has thus built a strong network that enables high-level professional collaborations and exchanges.

Gary Kalaci, CEO of Alexa Translations, expressed his appreciation for the collaboration: "We are proud to be part of the NEO Exchange community. Through this partnership, we have translated countless regulatory, continuous disclosure, compliance and marketing documents for numerous clients of the NEO Exchange. I truly believe our success in these high-risk areas is thanks to our fanatical commitment to service and quality.”

Jos Schmitt, President and CEO of NEO Exchange, expanded: "Alexa Translations has been in our Trusted Provider Program for the past four years and has become a highly trusted part of our ecosystem serving NEO-listed companies by providing premium translation services. Not only that, our own experience leveraging Alexa Translations has been exceptional. When our own clients need help and support, I am very pleased that Gary and his team are available."

First Work, then Play—Two Hard-Working Companies Took the Time to Celebrate

Both businesses have sufficient cause to celebrate. They both have had incredible success in recent years and a promising future.

Since its launch in 2015, the NEO Exchange has established itself as Canada's most cutting-edge and disruptive tier-one stock exchange, adding much-needed competition to its financial markets. NEO consistently accounts for close to 15% of all volume traded in securities with Canadian listings (CEF). This success is thanks to the fact that NEO is supported by some of Canada's most reputable financial institutions, not to mention its over 120 unique listings, including public companies, Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs), Special Purpose Acquisition Companies (SPACs), and Closed-End Funds.

In 2002, Gary Kalaci launched Alexa Translations to address the need for a new, premium-quality translation service. Since then, Alexa Translations has rapidly grown into an industry leader, recently reaching the milestone of 100 employees. The business developed into a cutting-edge supplier of translation software and services, satisfying the needs of professional translators, legal advisors, courts, and regulatory organizations in legal and financial industries, among others. Combining expert translations from subject-matter experts with A.I.-based translations is the secret to the success of Alexa Translations.

In a nutshell, there were plenty of reasons to celebrate past successes and look forward to collaboration in the years to come. Thanks to everybody who participated in the event!

BILL 96 WEBINAR (PART 1) - IN CASE YOU MISSED ITBILL 96 WEBINAR (PART 1) - IN CASE YOU MISSED IT

If you're operating in Quebec, you’ll by now be familiar with Bill 96, the Quebec government’s proposed law that is expected to take effect this summer. The bill will update the Charter of French Language, otherwise known as Bill 101, ensuring that nearly all business contracts, human resources activities, public services, marketing, and just about anything else will be available in French.

The highly contentious bill has generated applause by some, and protests by others. Whatever your opinion of the new law, you must be prepared to take action before Bill 96 takes effect.

To help explain the impact of Bill 96, we recently assembled a panel of experts including Keyvan Nassiry (Nassiry Law), André de Maurivez (CIBC), Tania Da Silva (DLA Piper), and Gary Kalaci (Alexa Translations). Our panel discussed the general impact of the bill, provided recommendations for all businesses operating in Quebec, and explored the nuances of human resources and contractual law under Bill 96.
