Women in Governance, founded in 2010, is a Canadian non-profit organization devoted to empowering women through professional development. The organization is committed to bridging the gender divide in the workplace, ensuring access to Board seats, and removing obstacles to women's advancement across all levels of the organizational ladder. Today, Alexa Translations is excited to announce our partnership with such a vital organization!

?As Alexa Translations continues to grow, it is critical that we continue to form strong relationships with organizations that align with our values of equal opportunity and inclusiveness?,  says CEO, Gary Kalaci. ?For over a decade, Women in Governance has been making waves in the form of advocacy, major events, mentoring programs, and training and we?re delighted to support their efforts.?

Women in Governance Founder and Chief Equality Officer, Caroline Codsi, is a prolific executive with a career spanning over 25 years. She joined the Alexa Translations Board of Advisors back in November 2020 and is the recipient of numerous national and international awards. She has also been recognized as a Top 20 Diversity Leading Figure in Quebec, Top 75 Canadian Immigrant, Top 100 Most Powerful Women in Canada, Top 100 Entrepreneurs Changing The World, and sits on the boards of the Québec Employer Council (Conseil du patronat du Québec) and Montréal Museum of Fine Arts. In addition, Women in Governance Co-chair Norman M. Steinberg is also a member of the Alexa Translations Board. Mr. Steinberg is Vice-Chair of BFL Canada and former Chair Emeritus of Norton Rose Fulbright Canada. He is also Chair of The McGill University Health Centre Foundation, Co-Chair of Dorel Industries, Director of Fiera Capital, Chair of the Board of Governors of the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, member of the Board of Directors and Organizing Committee of the Australia-Canada Economic Leadership Forum, Senior Advisor to Persistence Capital Partners, and Strategic Advisor of Vanadium One Iron Corp.

BILL 96 WEBINAR (PART 1) - IN CASE YOU MISSED ITBILL 96 WEBINAR (PART 1) - IN CASE YOU MISSED IT

If you're operating in Quebec, you’ll by now be familiar with Bill 96, the Quebec government’s proposed law that is expected to take effect this summer. The bill will update the Charter of French Language, otherwise known as Bill 101, ensuring that nearly all business contracts, human resources activities, public services, marketing, and just about anything else will be available in French.

The highly contentious bill has generated applause by some, and protests by others. Whatever your opinion of the new law, you must be prepared to take action before Bill 96 takes effect.

To help explain the impact of Bill 96, we recently assembled a panel of experts including Keyvan Nassiry (Nassiry Law), André de Maurivez (CIBC), Tania Da Silva (DLA Piper), and Gary Kalaci (Alexa Translations). Our panel discussed the general impact of the bill, provided recommendations for all businesses operating in Quebec, and explored the nuances of human resources and contractual law under Bill 96.

Not to worry - you can watch the recorded webinar below, and sign up here for updates about Bill 96 to ensure your business is prepared for the landbreaking new law.

This webinar was part one of our three-part series exploring Bill 96. The other two installments will take place in August and November - inscribirse aquí para recibir actualizaciones on the upcoming webinars.
