Which languages are hardest to learn?
Language is happening around you 24/7. From the first person you talk to when you wake up in the morning to the last person you say “goodnight” to before you go to bed. Language has never been more important than it is today! The world of language is developing quickly and it is hard to keep up. There are around 6,500 spoken languages in the world; however about 2000 of them have fewer than 1000 speakers.
It is critical that in-house counsel and lawyers in private practice communicate effectively with their clients. Quick, concise communications become especially crucial during crisis situations, such as responding to a global pandemic.
Machine-generated translations have existed for more than 15 years and are becoming increasingly sophisticated as technology advances, particularly with the evolution of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning. The use of AI in the translation industry can often spark mixed feelings, as some fear AI will eventually replace translators. AI should be viewed as a complement to human translation services, not a replacement. The translation industry is a prime example of how pairing human abilities with machine learning can create a superior, cohesive and more effective workforce.
